MY SPECIALTIES

A Sport and Exercise Physician specialises in musculoskeletal injury, injuries to joints, bones, muscle and tendon.   A Sport and Exercise Physician provides expert diagnosis, treatment and return to play guidelines for athletes from recreational to elite, young and old, performing all types of sport and physical activity.

SPORTING INJURY

A major component of my practice is ACC related sporting injury. My areas of expertise include injury prevention, diagnosis, treatment and return to play. I treat athletes from recreational and club level through to competitive sportspeople and elite athletes.

CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS

A special interest of mine, my goal is to see these patients promptly to ensure an early diagnosis and explanation can be made. The aim is to keep children and adolescents active and having fun while they recover from their injury.

WOMEN IN SPORT

Menstrual disturbance, fatigue and under performance can affect women who are regularly training for events. This is a special interest field of mine, where I can provide expert diagnosis and treatment to optimise both health and performance.

RELATIVE ENERGY DEFICIENCY IN SPORT

Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-s) can affect health and performance in both male and female athletes. Early detection and education are key components in the treatments of this condition.

KNEE OSTEOARTHRITIS

There is a wide variety of treatments available for patients with osteoarthritis. My goal is to keep these patients healthy and active. Following assessment, I offer an individualised approach to the treatment of osteoarthritis​.

ELITE ATHLETES

I am a HPSNZ accredited health provider, and the Medical Director of Netball, HPSNZ. I provide carded athletes with prompt services to minimise disruption from training.

ULTRASOUND GUIDED INJECTIONS

I have experience in ultrasound guided injections and use this regularly in my practice. Following consultation and if deemed a suitable treatment option, I am able to offer this service for a range of musculoskeletal conditions.

EXERCISE AS MEDICINE

Exercise should be a part of every person's lifestyle, and be prescribed as part of everyday health and in the management of chronic disease. I have experience in prescribing exercise in patients with cancer, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, cardiac and pulmonary disease.
